Property ID : Villu Villa Anuradhapura
Starting From $33 - Home Stay
Well-positioned in the centre of Anuradhapura, Villu Villa is a family owned boutique hotel. Built in January 2013, this new spacious yet cozy sojourn is owned by a prominent young lawyer with an established practice in the North Central Province.
With its ideal location, Villu Villa gives easy access to ancient ruins, vast water tanks and wild life the city has to offer. Nuwara Wewa the largest water tank in the city is just 500m away from the hotel. Possibility is there to arrange fishing and boating trips for the guests. Due to its very close access to main road, a tired traveler can easily get back to the hotel after a long day of travel.
As this place is owned by a lawyer and due to his friendly relationship with the civil security personnel in the area, the safety of the guests is highly ensured and the place is also well protected. Nobody would dare to cheat anyone here as a lawyer keeps an eye on them.
The owner (a lawyer who has just opened this new business) is very friendly and he cares a lot about your stay (Francesco M. Italy, Agoda reviews)
As this is a well family run hotel, guests can feel at home. They can find a homely and friendly atmosphere.
We stayed for two nights and were made to feel very welcome. Transport was arranged for us from the station and to visit the ruins, the evening curry was memorable and care was taken to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are Spartan but they are spotlessly clean. If you would like to meet a charming Sri Lankan family and enjoy their warm hospitality, then this is a great place to stay. (Sara K. When a guest stays somewhere food is prominent. Here you can find good food, well prepared not only with a woman’s touch but also with love and care. In Sri Lanka, people believe that when food is prepared with love and care it is very delicious. That’s why whatever mothers prepare is very tasty. You can experience this cultural fact with the food in this hotel.
The home cooked Sri Lankan rice and curry is superb; breakfast was fresh, substantial and delicious (served in the very pretty garden) (Mary C. United Kingdom, Agoda reviews)
The food is phenomenal. The hostess makes amazing home-cooked rice and curry. Breakfast is served in the lovingly-tended garden, with fresh cooked hoppers, omelets, etc. made right there in front of you (actually, while I was there, other guests received hopper-making lessons!). Highly recommended. (Christian W., United States of America,Agoda reviews)
The owner is a very pleasant man. Even though, we reach late at night, the owner’s wife immediately cooked dinner for us. It was such a wonderful and yummy dinner. Enjoyed our stay there. (Ramesh L. Malaysia, Agoda reviews)

A specimen of an overall review.
We stayed two nights in Villu Villa. Picked up at the train station by the owner whose wife had prepared a late dinner for us when we arrived. Very friendly people who helped us to plan the rest of our round trip in Sri Lanka (even called a few hotels to get a good rate). Very nice and clean rooms, with high speed wifi! We could rent bikes at the hotel and the owner arranged a guide who accompanied us by bike while we did the tour of the ancient city. Great home cooked Sri Lankan food in the evening and a breakfast in the garden. This was great value for money. Thanks! ( Stef D. Belgium, Agoda reviews)
History of Anuradhapura
The awesome Ruwanveliseya, Abhayagiriya, Jethawanaramaya and ThuparamayaDagobas are still venerated by Buddhists and these massive works along the large wevas (lakes) reveal the past glory of the city. The sacred Bo Tree (Sri Maha Bodhi) – considered the world’s oldest recorded surviving tree; the seated Samadhi statue of the meditating Buddha; KuttamPokuna (Twin Ponds), Isurumuniya and many other temples are some of the attractions in Anuradhapura.
